What to Prepare:
- Prepare 32 bars of a musical theatre song that showcases your voice and personality.
- Please bring sheet music or your own accompaniment track on a phone or device.
- Wear clothing and footwear you can comfortably move in, as movement may be part of the audition process.
- Please bring a current headshot and résumé if available.

About the Production:
Once Upon a Mattress is a joyful, fast-paced musical comedy that turns the classic fairy tale The Princess and the Pea on its head. Filled with larger-than-life characters, romance, physical comedy, and memorable songs, the show follows the unconventional Princess Winnifred as she arrives at a kingdom where no one can marry until Prince Dauntless finds a suitable bride.
This production will celebrate individuality, authenticity, and the courage to be yourself in a world that often demands conformity. Performers of all backgrounds and experience levels are encouraged to audition.
Compensation:
This is a volunteer community theatre production. No compensation will be provided.

Synopsis:
Coward’s tribute to theater is set in a retirement home for actresses in the 1940’s. Residents are all former stars. Jealousies abound, especially between Lotta and another who was also married to her former husband. A tragedy brings them to their senses and a new solarium brings out everyone’s good nature.
Playing ages are listed next to the characters on the audition form, and are flexible. Auditions will consist of cold reads from the script. English accents are a must with the exception of Deidre who has an Irish accent. The character of Maud should be able to play the piano, and the rest of the residents need to be able to carry a tune.
Rehearsals:
Will begin on January 5 and run Monday through Thursday from 7 to 10 most nights, with the venue TBD.
Performances:
Are from 2-20 to 3-7 Friday and Saturday nights at 8 with one matinee on Sunday 3-1 at 2:30.
There is no pay, all roles are open and all ethnicities are encouraged to audition. No Equity Union performers please. We are a non-profit, amateur theater group using a 400-seat auditorium.
